We have put together a “Songwriters Trio” featuring Jim Henman, Dave Carrol and Lisa Richard. All 3 song writers are nationally recognized and have performed throughout Canada and in the United States .
Dave Carroll is an award-winning songwriter and social media innovator from Halifax. He has enjoyed a 35 year career with his brother in the multi-award winning group, Sons of Maxwell, but he became familiar to hundreds of millions when his YouTube music video about a customer service issue with an airline, United Breaks Guitars , became a worldwide media sensation. Today he divides his time between being a dad, an author, professional speaker, storytelling coach and a singer-songwriter. His mission, which he has chosen to accept, is to improve the world one experience at a time.
Jim Henman spent much of his youth strumming a Stella acoustic guitar on the sandy shores of Clam Harbour NS. With high school friends Myles Goodwyn, Greg Stephen, Dave Dodsworth & Doug Grace, Jim started the top 40 band Woodies Termites. Jim and Myles went on to co-found Canadian rock band April Wine with Jim’s cousins, David and Ritchie Henman. Shortly after the release of their debut album in 1971, Jim decided to leave the band, moving back to the East Coast to start a family and pursue a career in Medical Technology. Jim officially re-emerged onto the east coast music scene in the 90s, writing and producing for many Canadian artists. In 2009 Jim was installed along with April Wine into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame and in April 2010, Jim had the great honour of receiving a Juno award, commemorating April Wine’s induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Jim has recorded three projects in last 15 years: Same Old Feeling, House Plants, and Before You Go. In spring of 2017 Jim was asked to join his old band mate, Myles Goodwyn, sole remaining original member and now the driving force behind April Wine’s success, in touring an acoustic show ”Just Between You And Me”. They performed across Canada until Myles’ death in December 2023. Jim continues to perform solo with a new show based on his 55 years as a songwriter.
They say heroes come in different uniforms. For award winning Canadian Country Troubadour Lisa Richard, that truth holds profound significance. Her song Uniforms (Promises Kept) was born from her personal experience surviving a near-fatal accident. Richard is at home in front of an audience with her guitar. She captivates listeners with her powerful vocal range, passion for music and life. She’s been called ‘a soulful Anne Murray.’ Lisa’s vocal stylings have been compared to the likes of Cher, Wynonna Judd and Tracy Chapman. Her genre extends across country, pop, rock and blues.
